Carry out asbestos Artex testing and sampling in the Harrogate area for £150.00, including two samples of the textured coating (you pay £150.00). The textured coating samples are then analysed at a UKAS-accredited laboratory.

ARTEX was used extensively throughout the 1970s and 1980s and is found in residential and commercial properties on ceilings and walls.

The coatings were often mixed by hand, and the asbestos was added to the mixing process. This causes problems when sampling for asbestos as they are not a homogenous mixture. Therefore, asbestos tends to be concentrated in ‘hot spots’ and is not uniform throughout the ceilings or walls.

The textured coating is then tested in the laboratory using powerful microscopes. They are looking for asbestos fibres in the textured coating sample; it’s not normally possible to detect asbestos fibre in the textured coating sample with the naked eye.
