Asbestos Management Survey
What Is an Asbestos Management Survey?
If you own, manage, or are responsible for a non-domestic property built before 2000, you have a legal responsibility—known as the Duty to Manage—under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. This means you must identify and manage asbestos risks in your building to protect everyone who uses it.
An Asbestos Management Survey is the standard inspection required to fulfil this duty. Its main goal is to locate, as far as reasonably possible, any materials in your building that may contain asbestos (known as Asbestos Containing Materials, or ACMs), and to assess their condition and risk.
What Does the Survey Include?
- Identification: We thoroughly inspect your property to find materials that could be damaged or disturbed during normal use, which might release asbestos fibres.
- Risk Assessment: Each identified material is checked for its condition and the likelihood that it could release harmful fibres.
- Asbestos Register: You receive a clear, easy-to-understand Asbestos Register. This document lists all identified ACMs and forms the foundation of your ongoing Asbestos Management Plan.
Why Choose an Independent Survey?
We do not offer asbestos removal services. This means our reports are completely impartial—our only concern is your safety. We will recommend removal only if necessary. In many cases, asbestos can be safely managed in place, reducing costs.
Who Needs an Asbestos Management Survey?
This survey is essential for:
-
- Business owners and landlords
- Buyers of commercial property
- Facilities managers and school governors
